Applications are invited from the Indian Nationals for the 7 (Seven) vacant posts of Motor Driver-Cum Mechanic described below in the following Directorate/Office of Survey of India, (Govt, of India, Ministry of Science & Technology). The particulars, terms and conditions for the recruitment of posts are as below:-

3. Scale of pay : Pre-revised (Rs. 3050-75-3950-80-4590) and other allowances as admissible. Revised (5200-20200+ 1900 Grade Pay) and other allowances as admissible.

4. Essential Qualification:

(i) Middle pass (8th standard).

(ii) Knowledge of Hindi/English.

(iii) Should possess a valid driving licence for both heavy and light vehicles (Tuck, Jeep and Motorcycle etc.) The licence should also be valid for hilly areas and it must not have any adverse entries.

(iv) Should have a good knowledge of the general procedures of daily, weekly and other types of maintenances of the vehicles. He should be capable of locating defects and repairing the defects cf the various components of Petrol/diesel engines lighting systems, suspension and steering systems, mechanical transmission systems and hydraulic brake systems of Motor transport vehicle and should have knowledge of various lubricants and their specific uses.

(v) Should have adequate knowledge of the works of fitter and should be well conversant with the duties of a Motor Mechanic.

5. Other desirable Qualification:-

(i) Should have 1 (one) year experience of working as Motor Mechanic in any repair workshop/ Garage.

(ii) Should possess a Certificate/Diploma in automobile trade from any recognised institution.

6. Age: 18 to 27 years for General category applicants and 18 to 32 years of age in case of SC/ST’ candidates and 18-30 years of age in the case of other Backward classes (OBCs) as on 31-07-2009 The upper age limit is also relaxable for retrenched Central Govt. employees/Departmental candidates Ex-serviceman and other eligible categories as per rules.

7. Place of work:- The employment is with liability to serve anywhere in the Union of India including Military service with a mobilized Survey unit. Accordingly, if required the candidates selected at Pune, Lucknow, Silchar, Raipur and Patna offices can be ordered to serve anywhere in India as and when required and with the mobiles Survey units. They must be prepared to drive in plain and hilly areas of India

8. Methods of Selection:-

(\) The candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria of the above post will be called to undergo the test and interview for assessment of actual knowledge of Motor Driving and its maintenance repair.

(ii) The candidate must note that mere fulfillment of essential qualifications do not make them eligible to be called for test and interview. In the event of a large number of applications being received in response to this advertisement or through concerned employment exchange, the concerned Appointing Authority reserves the right to limit the number of candidates to be called for the test by applying an appropriate criteria

(iii) The duration of selection process (test and interview) may extend to about 2 days and candidates are required to make their own arrangement for stay. The date of selection test will be intimated directly to the candidates.

9. Method of Application:-

Candidates fulfilling the above conditions may apply to anyone of the above GDCs on prescribed application form. The under mentioned documents should positively be enclosed with the application form.
